Need to run a mini-marathon to reach your gate?

From Frankfurt and Istanbul to Dubai and Houston, it’s common to spend 20-25 minutes trekking to reach some gates! Dallas and D.C. are even turning layovers into mini-marathons, with some walks stretching over 2 miles.

Here’s my quick survival guide for the coming holidays:

1. Pack Light – Heavy bags + long walks = no fun!
2. Wear Comfortable Shoes – Your feet will thank you.
3. Check the Airport Map – Avoid those “uh-oh, wrong way” moments.
4. Give Yourself Extra Time – Avoid your “fame moment” with an airport-wide name announcement.
5. Ask for Help – If it’s a long trek, airport assistance services can be lifesavers.

Next time, I might include “hiking boots” in my packing list.

Happy travels and strong legs! 💪🏽✈️
